Cost for helping others is 60 Euros

A Belgian man has been fined 60 Euros for delaying a commuter train after he helped a woman from being crushed that was stuck between the doors. “I apparently could have caused a delay and that is not permitted,” said Daniël Dewulf.

He added, “The train arrived right on time in Bruges in any event. The conductor did not see my point that I may have saved the woman’s life as a mitigating circumstance. Result: 60-euro fine.”

Railway officials have since nixed the charge, saying that Dewulf did nothing wrong and did help avert a worse outcome, adding “We also offer our apologies. We should have in fact fined the woman in question for boarding the train after the whistle.”
