Hippies suing hard working people
WASHINGTON (AP)- A human rights group filed its second lawsuit against Blackwater Worldwide contractors Wednesday, accusing the security firm of killing an Iraqi rug salesman in a September shooting.
Referring to Blackwater guards as “shooters” and “mercenaries,” the Center for Constitutional Rights accused the company of war crimes, assault, wrongful death, negligent hiring and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Continue Reading »
Oklahomans might get electricity for Christmas
SKIATOOK, Oklahoma (AP) - More than 30,000 homes and businesses remained without power in the U.S. state of Oklahoma on Wednesday, more than a week after an ice storm hit the Midwest.
Customers in some rural areas were expected to be without power until Christmas, though Oklahoma’s utility companies predicted that most service would be restored by Thursday.
The two-day storm early last week caused 27 deaths in Oklahoma, most in traffic accidents, the state Medical Examiner’s office said. Continue Reading »
Woman arrested for groping Santa
Sandrama Lamy, 33, of Danbury, is charged with fourth-degree assault for groping Santa at the Danbury Fair mall.
“I don’t know what the deal was. It was just bizarre,” the mall Santa told a reporter, referring all other questions about the incident to Cherry Hill Photo, the company that runs the Danbury Fair mall Santa photo setup.
Woman killed by root canal
Georgette Watson, 46, of Skokie, Ill. died will undergoing a root canal in the dentists chair in the offices of Feldman & Feldman DDS.. Authorities believe Watson suffered a heart attack and an autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
Watson had been principal of Brentano Math and Science Academy, a Chicago-area kindergarten through 8th grade school, since 2003.
Alternative fuel boat powered by fat to cruise around world
Pete Bethune of New Zealand plans to circumnavigate the world in his 100% bio-fuel powered ship the Earthrace. The trip is planned to begin March 1st next year, leaving from Valencia, Spain. Bethune and his wife mortgaged their home and sold everything they owned to finance the trip, and still need more financing.
Cute TV anchor punches cop in road rage incident
According to the police complaint, the Emmy-winning anchor yelled at the female police officer, “I don’t give a f— who you are, I’m a f—ing TV reporter, you f—ing dy-ke,” according to Philadelphiawilldo.com, a Philadelphia Weekly blog.

Koreans make cats that glow in the dark
South Korean researchers from the Gyeongsang National University in Jinju, South Korea, modified these Turkish Angola cats to glow in the dark. The Scientists developed glowing cats by modifying the animals genes with a florescent protein that gives off a red glow under the special light. The gene that controls skin color was altered to create the glowing effect. This new trait could make it less likely cats would be run over, or make Koreans less likely to eat the little creatures.

Largest merger in history in the works
Forget the TIme Warner AOL meger, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Belarus’ leader late Thursday, starting a visit that was closely watched for signs the two ex-Soviet neighbors were advancing toward a long-discussed merger.
The creation of a single state could allow Putin to become the leader of a land even larger than Russia is today after he steps down from the presidency next May.
