Top ten wireless providers

Knowing who is the top wireless provider in the nation might change on different occassions, but for the first quarter of 2008 the numbers have been manipulated and finally submitted and are available for your viewing pleasure.

Here’s something that might surprise you, unless you think about it and the state of the economy and the overall laziness of the population. There were no changes in rankings from the last time a quarterly report was created.

If you are using AT&T there’s good news, you are with the number one carrier in the U.S. for the first quarter of 2008! Of course their subscriptions fell, in part because of the closing of the TDMA network (if you don’t know what that is, welcome to non-geek world).

Virgin recently announced their unlimited package of cellular connectivity for $80/mo, which is $20/mo less then the top competition. Maybe Virgin is going to make its way up the list… ha ha.. not!

Within the top three, only Sprint showed a reduction in subscriptions. Still with nearly 22 million more subscribers than T-Mobil, Sprint probably doesn’t feel threatened.

Checking out the numbers, it looks like AT&T made an average of just over $165 per subscriber. That really sounds good until you see that number two Verizon made over $174 per subscriber, which is over 5% more on average for their subscribers.
