Tough economy has women selling their eggs for cash

A dozen chicken eggs will run you a couple of bucks at the supermarket but human eggs will could get you as much as ten thousand dollars.

With rising gas prices, the mortgage meltdown and a slowing economy women are turning to their ovaries for extra cash. The Center For Egg Options in Illinois, the number of women donating has increased significantly since April.

“The donors will make in the area of $7,000, and the surrogates will make anywhere from $20,000 to $30,000 plus,” said Nancy Block, founder of the Center For Egg Options.

In the Valley, Dr. Bruce Shapiro at the Fertility Center of Las Vegas said compensation is closer to $3,000 to $5,000.

Women can make several times that, anywhere from $20,000 to $30,000 dollars for surrogate donations. That process takes a bout three weeks and is painless.
