Vegetarians have smaller brains according to multiple studies
|
Vegetarians are six times more likely to suffer brain shrinkage than their carnivorous meat eating contemporaries.
Scientists have determined that the smaller brains is likely due to deficiencies in Vitamin B12 which can also cause anemia and inflammation of the nervous system. The best source for this vitamin is meat, particularly milk, fish and liver.
An earlier study at Oxford University showed that 107 people between the ages of 61 and 87 showed improved memory tests, physical tests after five years in those who had the highest levels of B12. The greatest shrinkage and brain atrophy occurred within test subjects who had the lowest levels of the Vitamin.
