Military developing flying car

The pentagon’s high-tech design division known has Darpa is developing a flying car for the US military.

The Personal Air Vehicle Technology project will lead to a working flying car prototype.

The specifications call for a 2-4 passenger car that can drive at speeds of 60 mph on land and fly at 150 mph.

The wings will probably have to fold back during driving and then extend for a flying configuration.

The hybrid vehicle would be used for scouting missions, medical evacuations of wounded and commando missions.

Several private companies have been developing personal flying vehicles for decades with little success.

A hovering flying ‘car’ saucer project designated the Avrocar was under military development between 1958 and 1961.

The project was cancelled when the VTOL car was unable to get more than a few feet off the ground.
