In 468 congressional races 438 of the victors outspent their opponents.
In 2008 the percentage was 93% of winners outspending their opponents, 94% in 2006 and 98% in 2004.

Although critics point out he outspent McCain 3-to-1 in so-called battleground states, and he turned down public funding despite promises to do the opposite.
Overall Obama raised $639.2 million compared to $335 million to McCain.
