Man tells on himself and receives no reward

When growing up, children are usually told not to tell on other people and learn the nickname of tattletale as a negative conotation. In the case of a Cedar Grove, Wisconsin resident, the term tattletale is inappropriate as he did not tell on someone else, but instead called the police about himself.
Sheboygan County prosecutors say a 21-year-old man who crashed his uncle’s car called police to report that he stole the car and had been drinking. The man was charged Friday with a felony count of taking and driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent. The charge carries a maximum penalty of six years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
According to the criminal complaint, the man had been drinking heavily early Friday morning, then decided to drive for cigarettes about 1:30 a.m.
The man lives with his uncle, who was sleeping at the time. The complaint said the man took his uncle’s car and drove about half a mile before crashing and rolling the vehicle.
Prosecutors said the man also told police he didn’t have a license.
