Mother wins son’s sperm in court
|
Austin, Texas – Marissa Evans, has won an emergency ruling to harvest sperm from her deceased 21-year-old son.
Nikolas Evans had died on Sunday after being hospitalized for a bar fight in which he struck his head after being punched.
The son apparently wished to have three sons and had already picked out their names: Van, Hunter and Tod.
The collection had to take place within 24 hours of being removed from life support, and the body had to be cooled to below 40 degrees.
The case had no strong legal precedent, because although organs are commonly harvested the sperm is rarely requested for by a parent.
Typically mothers are dealing with the fluid as a cleaning issue and not a legal one.
