Circus bans large floppy shoes for clowns
|
LIVERPOOL, UK — After another clown fell nine feet and broke his foot, other clowns are being stripped of their characteristic large floppy shoes.
The circus’s ‘Health and Safety Advisor’ banned gigantic shoes for clowns out of safety reasons.
The advisor denied the ban was over the top, saying “You have to take a commonsense approach. If it’s stupid, don’t do it.”
Those safety reasons had to do with the circus’s insurance policy which could be invalidated by the size 18 shoes.
The Russian clown Valerik Kashkin performs his clown act a few feet above the ground and will have to use normal sized shoes until he returns to the Russian Circus where workplace safety rules are more relaxed.
