Diablo video game takes human life

If you were asked which country would have an 18-year old male die from playing a video game for over 40-hours straight and were given the following choices, which would you guess; A) Taiwan, B) Taiwan; or C) Taiwan? Well if you guessed D) All The Above, you are correct. Another Asian has died from video games.

Although the idea here is that someone was left unattended enough to kill themselves with compulsive and useless video game playing, the real story is why Chuang was allowed to play the game so many hours without the game self-defense mechanism kicking in. You know, computer crashes.

Why don’t video game manufacturers build in a 4-hour pause or after 6-hours the game saves itself, quits, then causes the computer to shutdown? It’s not the responsibility of the game designers to build this protection into the game, but it would be to their best interest. How many dead video game players buy games?

Nintendo had it solved when they created the over-heating hardware. They had their systems built with future customer retention plans.
