John Ritter in trouble for dying

A California jury has cleared a cardiologist and a radiologist of negligence in the diagnosis and treatment of permanently-retired actor Johnathan Southworth Ritter, who died of a torn aorta on the second anniversary of the Twin Towers bombing (that’s September 11, 2003 dummy).

Since there was no first person testimony by John Ritter, everyone had to pinky swear with no take-backs or crossies when it came time to discuss what Ritter had said. The jurors found that Ritter was advised by the radiologist to follow up with treatment by a physician, but Ritter didn’t follow the order. A BBC documentary claims that Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones survived an assassination attempt by two Hells Angels when their boat capsized in strong seas in 1969. Jagger had vowed not to use Hells Angel members as bouncers following the death in December 1969 of an 18-year-old fan at a notorious free performance at Altamont Speedway in Northern California.

Writers guild only likes CBS for now

CHICAGO (Dow Jones) - The Writers Guild of America said Wednesday that it has reached a tentative agreement with CBS Corp. on a new contract for CBS newswriters, editors, researchers and other Guild members who have been working under an expired contract since April 2005.

Under terms of the deal, WGA-CBS employees will get a 3.5% pay increase once the contract is ratified, and another 3.5% raise in 2009. Most regularly scheduled employees who worked 200 days or more last year and didn’t get wage increases during negotiations will receive an additional $3,700 payment. Employees who worked shorter schedules will receive pro-rated payments.

Lazy writers ending vacation

NEW YORK (Dow Jones) - The company that produces CBS’s ‘Late Show With David Letterman’, has reached a side agreement with union representing striking TV writers, The New York Times reported Friday citing several late night show executives.

The pact with World Wide Pants will allow ‘Late Show With David Letterman’ and ‘Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson’ to return to the air with new episodes Wednesday.
